My name is Mena Plutko and I am a cosmetologist/professional hair stylist with over 33 years of experience. My inspiration to become a stylist started when my parents bought shears for me and a few of my classmates allowed me to practice cutting their hair. Immediately after high school, I decided to pursue my passion at Citrus College where I received my cosmetology license. I specialize in haircuts as well as keratin smoothing treatments (Brazilian Blow Out), but also love to work with color, lowlights, perms, styling and haircuts for men, women and children. I was fortunate to attend Toni and Guy Academy where I learned many techniques. I am also Brazilian Blow Out Certified. I have taken numerous cut and color classes including Redken Exchange and Paul Mitchell.
In 2016 a colleague shared with me a technique that has been around for centuries. I was fascinated and decided to become certified in the art of sugaring. Sugaring is a pure, organic and natural form of hair removal which has many benefits. Sugaring rids skin of dead cells, removes hair from the root in the direction of growth which becomes softer and reduces hair growth with less irritation. Sugar is water soluble and has no sticky feeling and is sanitary because it is applied with gloves and no double dipping.
I grew up in Chino, CA and met my husband, Greg in first grade. We have been married over thirty years and have two children, Sara and Adam. We moved to Upland to raise our family in 1994 where we lived for over 17 years. Both of our children are married. When I am not at the salon with my clients, I am traveling to Oregon or Texas to visit our kids. I love going to group exercise classes (spin, step, cardio weight training) where I meet up with friends.
I started this business because I love to cut hair which blossomed around the age of twelve. Over the past thirty plus years, I have come to realize that my favorite part of what I do is the personal relationships I have built with clients. I feel truly blessed!
